Capt. Sullenberger's Crash Landing on Hudson
Disaster struck US Airways Flight 1549 after it left New York's LaGuardia Airport bound for Charlotte on Jan. 15, 2009. The Airbus A320-214, piloted by Capt. Chesley 'Sully' Sullenberger, struck a flock of Canada Geese during its initial climb out, lost engine power, and ditched in the Hudson River off midtown Manhattan.
The incident became known as the "Miracle on the Hudson" as there were no fatalities or serious injuries to the passengers and crew after the crash landing.
