Bill Clinton Admits Lewinsky Affair

On Aug. 17, 1998, President Bill Clinton admitted to the nation that he had had an inappropriate sexually relationship with aide Monica Lewinsky. The admission led to his impeachment for obstruction of justice and perjury based on grand jury testimony where Clinton denied having sexual relations with Lewinsky. Nevertheless, he was acquitted of those charges and remained in office.
