Dissecting Cheney's Memoir, a Q&A

I'm curious: What in Dick Cheney's past would have led you to think that his memoir would be filled with apologies or regret? The growing meme in the media around his memoir is that he shockingly didn't rebuke himself for his time in office. This is shocking why, exactly?What makes you think I expected that? Or that anyone did? As I wrote near the beginning of the review, this is now an established genre. It goes back to Jimmy Carter at least in my experience. Carter's memoir of his time in office (which I reviewed in Outlook about a hundred years ago) was dreadful. U.S. Grant wrote a good one.  Who else?
