It was all but forgotten as millions watched the 6.9 magnitude Loma Prieta earthquake wallop Northern California with a bucking killer blow at 5:04 p.m. on that balmy October day. As the hours unfolded, the quake transformed a handful of folks at the flash points of damage into a live cast of victims and survivors -- and over the 10 years that followed, their images became cemented in history.
