Carlton Fisk Waves It Fair

BOSTON-The Boston Red Sox rose to dramatic heights tonight when they defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 7‚6, on a 12th-inning home run by Carlton Fisk just barely inside the left field foul pole and stretched the World Series into a seventh and deciding game. It was a tingling four-hour marathon that ended at 12:33 after the Red Sox had raised all sorts of rumpus before a roaring crowd of 35,205 in Fenway Park and a national television audience. They took a 3‚0 lead the first time they batted, they lost it five innings later, they fell behind by 6‚3 in the eighth and then four outs from losing the final honors of the baseball season, they struck back with theatrical flourishes.
