Chiang Kai-shek's Conquest of China

The latter was when the Kuomintang managed to wipe out the warlords and Chiang Kai-shek gained control over Republic of China for a brief period.

 

Chiang Kai-shek was born 1887, in north-eastern China. He was into a middle-class family and had already opted for a military career in his youth. This was a popular choice among many young men during those times, as it was a common way of getting prestige during the Qing Dynasty.

 

He gained military experience in Japan, where he also became acquainted with Chinese revolutionaries. He returned to China in 1911, after the Wuhan uprisings. Chiang participated in overthrowing the Qing Dynasty, and led a regime of revolutionaries in Shanghai.
