Rarely does one historical event have such an impact. The Long March of 1935 can be compared with Winston Churchill on the Dunkirk evacuation and Jack Kennedy on the Cuban Missile Crisis. The after effects reverberated on for 50 years and shaped China's position in the world. Although historians can agree on its importance, there the unanimity ends, the facts of the Long March continue to be hotly debated.
