Russia Continues to Lie About World War II

The 80th anniversary of the German and Soviet invasion of Poland, held on September 1st, was bound to be politicized. The politics of memory are significant for all parties involved. No one has been as shamelessly propagandistic, however, as the Russian government.
Now, I am no kind of Russophobe. My favorite writers include Nikolai Gogol and Fyodor Dostoevsky. My favorite athletes include Fedor Emelianenko. I have no time for the saber-rattling of neoconservatives and #resistance liberals. Nonetheless, Russian attempts to obscure the savagery of their involvement in the beginnings of World War II have the stuff of morbid farce.
