In 1922, NYT Called Hitler a 'Popular Idol'

MUNICH, Nov. 20.—Next to the high cost of living and the dollar. "Der Hitler" and his "Hakenkreuzlers" are the popular topic of talk in Munich and other Bavarian towns. This reactionary Nationalistic anit-Semitic movement has now reached a point where it is considered potentially dangerous, though not for the immediate future.
