ALL 306 British soldiers who were shot at dawn for cowardice or desertion during World War I will be granted posthumous pardons, Britain's Ministry of Defence said.
The Secretary of Defence, Des Browne, announced on Tuesday that he would cut short a review prompted by campaigns to exonerate the men, and that emergency legislation would be put before the House of Commons soon after it resumes sitting in the northern autumn.
The news was greeted with joy by the family of Private Harry Farr, executed during the Battle of the Somme in 1916 for cowardice in the face of the enemy.
