With the ability, audacity and confidence, Wilhelm Voigt could have become a politician or leader. Instead, this guy had hilarious petty aspirations — like kidnapping a governor to steal the 4000 marks, that too with the entire town's help.
His planning got him respect, as no ordinary could plan a level of heist he plotted — alone.
Who was this super interesting man?
Wilhelm Voigt hailed from Tilsit, Prussia. Starting his crime career at 14 got him arrested and jailed for a couple of weeks in 1863. Upon the release, Wilhelm Voigt realized he had been expelled from school.
Having no other choice, he had to go into the family shoe-making trade — but he didn’t leave his true passion of crime behind. Wilhelm Voigt’s theft, burglary and forgery crimes made him a constant prison guest for almost 27 years —out of which 15 years accounted for his failed robbery attempt at the court cashier’s office.
