Macy’s employee Kathy Kramer, a veteran of 37 Thanksgiving Day parades, missed a bit of everything last year when the pandemic forced a stripped-down version of the sprawling annual holiday celebration.
The balloons and the floats and the performers, for sure. But mostly the beaming smiles from spectators young and old, gathered on a November morning along the Manhattan route as the balloon pilot marched down Broadway with her colleagues beneath one of the towering inflatables.
