The Battle of Anghiari, a work of art depicting four soldiers fighting atop warhorses during a key battle of Italy's 15th Century Wars in Lombardy, is often considered "The Lost Leonardo". Peter Paul Rubens' copy (shown above), painted in 1603 and based on an engraving of one of Leonardo da Vinci's preparatory cartoons, is the best known representation of the original. Over the years, scholars have forcefully debated where da Vinci's masterpiece is hidden and even whether the Italian Renaissance man completed it at all.
Adding allure to The Battle of Anghiari mystery, Grigol Keshelava, a prominent vascular surgeon in Georgia and an ardent fan of da Vinci, thinks he has discovered a three-dimensional image of the brain hidden within the copy of the lost artwork. He thoroughly noted the similarities and presented additional evidence for his find in a paper published to The Neuroscientist.
