For many years, Pontiac was one of the leading automotive companies in the United States. And for most of its life it was under the ownership of General Motors until it disappeared in 2010. This followed some financial issues and various restructuring efforts by General Motors to sort out the brand. Pontiac was a brand that many in America were huge fans of so its demise was much lamented. This after it had made legendary cars like the GTO and the Trans Am over the years.
Many felt that GM was wrong to kill off Pontiac. Many fans thought that it was Buick that should have gone. Many are still angry today that Pontiac is no longer with us, despite the odd rumor of a revival. However, there are some sound reasons as to why Pontiac was in fact killed off by GM. Even if there are many that thought its demise was a bit unfair. Amazingly, it is over 10 years since the demise of Pontiac, yet to many it feels like it was yesterday. Pontiac though was suffering, and maybe it was the kindest thing to kill it off.
