Battle of Issus: Alexander the Great vs. Darius III

By 333 BCE, Alexander had finally defeated the Achaemenid satraps of Anatolia, and at least somewhat secured his line of communication. He was now ready to march his army into the rich province of Mesopotamia and the Levant.
