The Treachery of Benedict Arnold at West Point

In June 1801 in the budding southwest London hamlet of Battersea along the mighty Thames River, the greatest traitor in American history was laid to rest in a crypt beneath a small church. 20 years earlier Benedict Arnold had boarded a boat fleeing the land of his birth for a new home in England alongside his wife, the beautiful Peggy Shippen of Philadelphia, daughter of a wealthy American judge of questionable loyalty to America’s quest for freedom.
