Japan Airlines Flight 123 Crash Kills 520

|

In the deadliest single-aircraft accident ever, Japan Airlines Flight 123 crashed 32 minutes after takeoff from Osaka International Airport. The Boeing 747 had suffered a tailstrike in 1978, and an incorrect repair procedure led to a bulkhead breaking and explosive decompression rupturing all of the aircraft's hydraulic system, rendering the aircraft uncontrollable.
