'Mukden Incident' and Invasion of Manchuria

The Mukden Incident, also known as the Manchurian Incident, was staged on Sept. 18, 1931, by Japanese military personnel as a pretext for invading Manchuria in northeast China. It set in motion of a 14-year struggle between China and Japan that ended with the Japanses surrender in World War II.
