Nixon Goes to China in 1972

Richard Nixon became the first American president to visit Communist China when he took an eight-day tour from Feb. 21-28, 1972. Nixon achieved his goals of normalizing relations with China and bringing the Soviet Union to the negotating table to thaw the Cold War.
