In a 1986 World Cup quarterfinal played on June 22 between Argentina and England, Diego Maradona scored two of international soccer's most memorable goals. The first of which came early in the second half, when Maradona used his hand to "head" in a ball misplayed by an English defender. The referee missed the call and with the later "Goal of the Century," Maradona led Argentina to a 2-1 victory. Maradona coined the term "Hand of God" when he said after the goal was "a little ... the head of Maradona and a little ... the hand of God."
